About me

Without limiting herself to these areas, Andrea Jacobs’ musical focus is on early and contemporary music. In October 2026, she will be performing with Madrigalchor Aachen e.V. at the ‘Venezia in Musica’ festival in Venice and Caorle (IT). Under her direction, Vocal Raise e.V. will perform an a cappella programme to mark World Children’s Day, comprising a socially critical concert featuring works from the 20th and 21st centuries, as well as a children’s concert with age-appropriate presentation. The Männervokalensemble Aachen e.V. will collaborate with Cappella Concinite from Leuven (BE) in December 2026 and will give two joint Advent concerts in Aachen and Leuven.

Alongside her philosophy of developing and motivating ensembles by working on an equal footing with each individual member of the group, Andrea Jacobs is convinced that every ensemble can find its own unique sound, based on the composition of its members, their musical experience and their individual skills. She places vocal technique and aural training at the heart of her rehearsal work with amateur choirs. By fostering the aural skills of each individual member, she encourages the singers to recognise even slight deviations in intonation, homogeneity or timbre. By ensuring that every ensemble member continues to develop their singing technique, she enables them to adapt at any time and blend into a clear and transparent choral sound.

Andrea Jacobs is currently a student in the choral conducting class of Hans Leenders at Conservatorium Maastricht and is expected to complete her Bachelor’s degree in the summer of 2027. Having begun conducting lessons with Prof. Fritz ter Wey in 2018, she furthered her training by studying with Prof. Cornelius Trantow and Mikko Sidoroff. In April 2024, she completed the B-course in Classical Choral Conducting at the Bundesakademie für Kulturelle Bildung in Wolfenbüttel under their supervision. Alongside her conducting training, she took singing lessons with Prof. Anja Paulus, Axel Everaert and Yvonne Schiffelers in order to further develop her personal skills and to be able to pass on her knowledge to her ensembles.

Since 2017, Andrea Jacobs has conducted numerous concerts on the independent music scene. These include several performances as part of the Aachen Internationale Chorbiennale festival, where she became member of the Artistic Board in August 2025. With Männervokalensemble Aachen e.V., she successfully took part in the North Rhine-Westphalia State Choir Competition in 2022 and premiered Joseph Lemainque’s ‘Missa Maris Stella’ in 2021.

Within the regional choral scene, Andrea Jacobs regularly supports choirs of various levels on a temporary basis. In her collaboration with these diverse ensembles, she seizes every opportunity – be it rehearsals, concerts, competitions or recordings – to critically examine her working methods and use these insights for her own further development.
